The Working-Class Studies Association call for nominations, including self-nominations, for new work published in 2024 has closed. We look forward to announcing the winners soon!
Purpose
In all categories, we invite nominations of excellent work that provides insightful and engaging representations of working-class life, culture, and movements; addresses issues related to the working class; and highlights the voices, experiences, and perspectives of working-class people.
Eligibility & Limitations
To be eligible, works must have been published (in the case of books, articles, and media) or completed (in the case dissertations) between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. An author’s work may only be considered in one category in a given year.
How to Nominate?
To nominate a work for consideration, please read and complete this google form: WCSA Awards form. You will be asked to login to a gmail account to access the form. Here are steps to make a gmail account if needed.
The form provides space to upload a brief cover letter and describe why you believe the work deserves recognition in the specific award category. It will explain how to share the nomination with the committee. In the case of the CLR James award, nominations must be sent hard-copy. In all other categories, they may be uploaded to the form as a pdf or sent hard-copy. In the latter, the committee chair will email you with three addresses to send the item. In all cases, chairs will be notified of your submission and confirm receipt.

Please contact the immediate WCSA Past-President, Jen Vernon, Chair of the Awards Committee with any questions about the awards. Contact chairs of the award subcommittees if needed here: Tillie Olsen Chair, CLR James Chair, Constance Coiner Chair, Russo & Linkon Chair, Ryan & Sackrey Chair, and the Studs Terkel Chair.
