Small Grants for Low-Income Scholars, Early-Career Scholars, and Activists

The Working-Class Studies Association provides small grants to support low-income scholars, early-career scholars, and activists to attend our annual conferences. Fill out the Conference Travel Grant Application to apply.

  • Early-career status is defined as being a graduate student, in the first year or two of a post-graduate academic job, or in the early stages of a job as an activist or organizer (e.g., working a low-salary/ low-income job at a nonprofit or other organization).
  • Awardees will be chosen each year from among those whose conference proposals are accepted for presentation at the Working-Class Studies Association conference.
  • Conference attendance is required to receive the fellowship. Recipients will be reimbursed via Pay Pal or an American bank check.

Solidarity Contributions

Stay tuned, folks: Since travel to Sydney, Australia is likely to be especially burdensome for low-income WCSA members commuting from regions far from down under, we’re planning to beef up our Solidarity Fund with a fundraiser aimed at those of you who can afford to help offset some of these travel costs for our members. We’ll have an updated donation link for you soon. But in the meantime, if you’ve got the cash to spare, please consider donating when the time comes.

Many thanks, and solidarity always!
