WCSA24 Zoom Plenary

WCSA24 Zoom Plenary

May 2, 2024|Conference|1.2 min|

Come listen to Saba Waheed and Veena Hampapur of the UCLA Labor Center speak as part of the WCSA24 Zoom Plenary: “Telling Diverse Working-Class Stories for the People.” They’ll present on a longstanding podcast they produce, Re:Work and discuss how they conceptualize it as a tool for narrative change. Their project engages and educates listeners on social justice issues through storytelling that presents workers holistically, and uplifts their agency and dignity.

For over a decade, Re:Work has elevated stories of work to humanize and break down economic and racial justice issues. Re:Work also trains community producers and students in multimedia story production. Each Re:Work episode centers the life story of a worker or activist through curated interviews punctuated with host reflections, music, and archival tape that draw listeners to a particular time, place, and feeling.

Saba Waheed and Veena Hampapur will be joined by Carla Murphy and Venise Wagner, social media spotlight forthcoming, and facilitator Jen Vernon at the WCSA24 Zoom Plenary. This event will take place Thursday, June 6, 1-3:30, EDT on the WCSA24 Zoom track.
